We offer both flag and tackle football in our competitive program, 1st time participants are welcome. This is an instructional program with mandatory play requirements and certified coaches.

First day of Pre-Season is August 1st from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Nishuane Park and (Monday - Friday until August 30th).

The game season officially starts August 25th thru October 13th.

Football Fees:

• Flag (ages 5-7)- $150 
• Tackle (ages 8-14)- $175

Test your skill against neighborhood townships on a recreational level in the Suburban Cross-Country League. Learn the basic skills of off-track running during the fall season to help build endurance and self-esteem. Participants will practice twice a week at Nishuane Park and compete locally with neighboring towns each week. 

• When: Monday, September 6th, 2024 to November 6th, 2024
• Time: Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:30 PM. - 6:30 PM.
• Where: Nishuane Park
• Volunteer Coaches greatly appreciated!
• Please wear sneakers, shorts, a T-shirt and plenty of water!

Grades 7&8 
Fee: $90.00

Join us this fall - Girls Grades 7 & 8 Volleyball. Montclair Recreation are members of the Suburban Girls' Volleyball League, a league made of recreational teams throughout Essex County. Teams will compete weekly throughout the season from September to November.

Participants must be registered for team evaluations through our Community Pass System. 

Evaluations will be held at Montclair High School (Main Gym) - Date TBA 

Registration Deadline for tryouts (No Fee): August 30th, 2024

Once Selected to a team, payment of $90.00 is required through a link via Community Pass.

Game jerseys will be issued. Appropriate athletic attire and knee pads are required!

Time: 7:00 PM. - 9:00 PM.  (Week Nights between Monday-Thursday)

Season runs from Mid-September- Early November

Dates: Games/Practices held Mondays & Wednesdays 5:30pm-8pm

Location: Kaveny Field.

• Volunteer coaches are greatly needed to run program.

• No experience necessary.
• Game jersey, flag belt and mouth guard will be issued.  (Team requests are not permitted)

Minors:  Grades 4-6 
Majors:  Grades 6 – 7

• Clinic-style practice including: hitting, fielding, and pitching 
• Geared to improve skills through drills and game play.  
• Players must provide own equipment:  Gloves, Bat, Batting Helmet & Cleats (non-metal)
• Schedule: September - November  -  Thursdays 5:30 p.m. & Sunday afternoons 
• Coaches are greatly needed to run the program. 

Looking forward to Fall 2024 Montclair Youth Field Hockey!

Montclair Youth Field Hockey is a volunteer based, non-profit organization focused on offering introductory and middle school field hockey to Montclair.   

The season will start September 3rd and continue through the end of October. 

Teams will practice mostly at Watchung field (2 evenings a week) and games will be on Friday/Saturdays in the fall in the northern Essex county area.  

No field hockey experience is required.  All teams will have mixed abilities.  We have loaner sticks available, extra goggles.  Players must provide their own shin guards (which cover the ankle) and mouth guard in order to play.  Uniforms provided.

• We will have two 7/8 grade teams - each team will have no more than 18 athletes.  (36 total). 

Fees will be the same as last year - $295/player.  Scholarships available.

• There is also a 3/4 grade introductory team.  The season will start the 2nd week of September and practices will be once per week with local scrimmages.

We are in need of parental support (coaches, organizers, safety, communications, party planning, etc).  When you register, consider checking the volunteer box!  Without additional help -- we may only be able to field one 5/6 team this year.  Volunteering really is a great way to get involved and support your athletes, field hockey experience not required. 

We are a 100% volunteer organization run in conjunction with the Montclair Recreation Department.  Please email me if you can help out! 

We also look forward to working closely with the Montclair High School Field Hockey players and will be using a large portion of the fee revenue collected to offer scholarship/stipends to interested MHS athletes (varsity, JV, freshmen) who will work closely with our coaches and young field hockey players over the fall season. All MYFH alumni are encouraged to apply!
