The general election is Tuesday, November 3, 2020.

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy signed an executive order on August 14 to create a modified vote-by-mail system for the November election because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The order suspends the sending of sample ballots, and requires instead that each county’s election officials send vote-by-mail ballots with pre-paid postage to all active registered voters for the general election.

Information regarding the General Election on November 3, 2020:

Please be advised that all “active” registered voters will be receiving mail-in ballots for the upcoming General Election on November 3, 2020. No sample ballots will be sent to voters. Official ballots will be mailed during the first week of October.

Voters will have three options for returning their own completed ballots to the County:

  1. Put the ballot in the secure drop box in front of the Municipal Building at 205 Claremont Avenue (this box is monitored by security camera and the County will periodically collect the ballots and bring them to Newark for processing); or
  2. Turn in the ballot at a polling location before 8:00pm on Election Day, November 3, 2020; or
  3. Mail the ballot via the United States Postal Service (ballots must be postmarked no later than November 3 and be received by the County Clerk no later than 8:00pm on November 10)

Voters who choose to cast their vote in-person may do so on provisional ballots at the Township’s designated polling sites on the day of the election.

Individuals who require access to ADA-conforming voting machines may also vote at the Township’s designated polling sites on the day of the election.
