2021 Montclair Recreation Fall/Winter Activities

Skills & Drills Basketball (Grades 2,3,4,5)

Grade 2:  Monday 6:00pm-7:00pm & Saturday 8:45am-9:45am
Grade 3:  Tuesday 6:00pm-7:00pm  & Saturday 9:45am-10:45am
Grade 4:  Wednesday 6:00pm-7:00pm & Saturday 10:45am-12:15pm
Grade 5:  Thursday 6:00pm-7:00pm & Saturday 10:45am-12:15pm

Boys and Girls will learn basketball techniques through drills and game play. The new format will give our participants more opportunities to develop their skills in the game of Basketball.

Suburban Basketball League, Boys/Girls (Grades 4-8)

Registration is ongoing NOW at www.montclairpal.org 
The Montclair Recreation Department in collaboration with the Montclair Police Athletic League is currently forming boys and girls teams for the upcoming 2021-22 season. Participants must be Montclair residents to participate. Season runs from December-early March. The program is offering teams for the following levels: 
6th grade girls 
8th grade girls 
5th grade boys 
6th grade boys 
7th grade boys
8th grade boys 

Teams will participate in the suburban basketball league (recreation level) which is comprised of recreation teams throughout Essex County.

Local travel for away games, all home games will be played at Montclair High school. Teams will meet 2-3 times per week for games/practices which are held weeknights at 7pm and Saturdays (various times depending on schedules).  Participants must register to try out for teams, no exceptions. Volunteer coaches and team managers are a necessity for a successful season so when you are registering your child,  please consider volunteering.

All inquires must go through the P.A.L. website. Volunteers do not need to be experienced, we will train.

Wrestling (Grades 3-8)

  • Fee is $100.00
  • Location - Montclair High School Wrestling room
  • Registration opened 10/25. Register at register.communitypass.net/montclair.
  • Practices - Monday and Thursday evening 6:00pm - 8:00pm.
  • The season will officially begin November 15th and ends March 12th.

Our wrestling program is designed for boys and girls in Grades 3-8. Participants will learn wrestling techniques in preparation for wrestling matches. 

We need adult volunteers to ensure a successful season.

 Ways you can help:

  • Be a team manager.
  • Set up mats at home games.
  • Assist/work at the concession stand at home matches.
  • Organize the communications between parents and coaches.
  • Update website information.
  • Distribute uniforms and apparel.

 Mountain Creek Ski Program (Grades 7-12)

  • The recreation department will not be providing bus transportation.
  • Complete details for the program offering from Mountain Creek will be available soon.
