Summary:
Performs preliminary accounting work involved in preparing financial records and in maintaining an accounting system; assists with payroll when needed; performs related duties as assigned. Work is performed under general direction from the Chief Financial Officer or their designee.
Duties:
Under close supervision, performs preliminary and routine accounting work involved in auditing accounts.
• Makes routine inspections of varied financial transactions and records to ensure that regulations and accounting procedures are observed.
• May assist in compiling financial and other statements and reports using basic data.
• Performs preliminary investigations, examinations, and audits of books and financial records, and assists in the preparation of reports.
• May assist in preparing routine accounting and statistical tabulations.
• Performs preliminary work involved in auditing and recording expense invoices, and assists in the preparation of audits and edits, report of cost, and other financial summaries and statements.
• May assist in preparing routine accounting reports.
• Assist with Payroll when needed.
• Maintains records and files.
Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent. Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, with the ability to learn other programs. Experience in the receipt, disbursement, deposit, custody, and other clerical processing of cash is required. Knowledge of payroll computations and functions, and payroll software is preferred. The successful candidate will possess strong attention to detail, excellent written and organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with the public.
Salary:
$42,870.00 - $60,730.00. This range is specific to the job level and considers the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. This range has been created in good faith based on information known to the Twp of Montclair at the time of posting. Compensation decisions depend on the circumstances of each candidate.
