3rd Ward Councilor Rahum Williams
Third Ward Councilor Rahum Williams, along with his family, have been proud residents of Montclair since 2015. Raised in Brooklyn, NY, Councilman Williams developed a deep commitment to community advocacy, inspired by his parents.
From advocating for safer streets through Brooklyn’s community boards to leading neighborhood beautification initiatives, he has consistently driven positive change. During his time on his former building's co-op board, he successfully implemented cost saving measures to help control maintenance fees for all residents.
In his nearly three decade long career in commercial finance, Councilman Williams has held various leadership positions. Currently, he is a Senior Vice President at a large national bank, where he leads a team responsible for managing commercial middle market lending relationships in the United States and Canada. He earned his B.S. in Business Management from Berkeley College.
Outside of his professional life, Councilman Williams is an avid long-distance runner, pursuing the Abbott World Marathon Majors 6 Star Finisher Medal. He has already completed marathons in London, Tokyo, Berlin, Chicago, and New York, and now sets his sights on qualifying for the Boston Marathon.
A passionate reader and frequent visitor to Montclair’s main library, Councilman Williams is dedicated to mentoring early career professionals in his industry and supporting charities focused on providing educational resources to underprivileged children. His greatest pride, however, is his loving wife and four daughters, who bring profound meaning and motivation to his life.
Councilman Williams is a member of Montclair Township’s Finance Committee, Communications Committee, E-Governance Committee, Operations Committee, and the Montclair BID Board of Directors.
