August 31, 2021 – September 7, 2021

Theft

August 31, 2021 (Bloomfield Avenue): The manager at CVS reported an unknown individual entered the store and stole $736.00 worth of body wash and toothpaste. He was described as a black male, 5'7'' tall, 120-140 pounds, wearing a black "skull" cap, black surgical mask, a black t-shirt with white lettering (top two words on the t-shirt: "straight outta"), dark jeans, and red shoes. He was last seen walking east on Bloomfield Avenue.

September 1, 2021 (Myrtle Avenue): The resident reported her vehicle was entered at some point between August 27, 2021 and September 1, 2021. The vehicle was ransacked but nothing was reported missing.

September 3, 2021 (Union Street): The resident reported his vehicle was entered while he was away on vacation. Reported missing at this time are one set of Insanity Bands, one set of work out gloves, two 10 pound dumbbells, one Crossover black backpack, one bike Iphone holder, one green thermos, two sets of bike lights, one hipLock bike lock, one set of prescription sunglasses, and one backpack.

Lewdness

September 6, 2021 (Cedar Avenue): The complainant reported that while walking her dog in the area of Nishuane Park, she observed an unknown male masturbating in the wooded area. He was described as a white male, approximately 40 years old, 5’08” tall, thin build, wearing blue jeans.

Arrest

September 6, 2021 (Bloomfield Avenue): Israel Cuellar (66 years old, Orange, NJ) was charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle accident.

September 7, 2021 – September 14, 2021

Theft

September 7, 2021 (Chester Road): The resident reported that her 2017 Toyota Rav4 was stolen from in front of her home. She was unsure if she left her key fob in the vehicle. It was recovered parked and unoccupied on Shanley Avenue in Newark on September 8, 2021. While canvassing the area for witnesses or evidence, a neighbor was located who reported that their vehicle was entered and rummaged through. There were no reported proceeds.

September 9, 2021 (Harrison Avenue): The resident reported her vehicle was entered between August 20, 2021 and August 23, 2021. Her purse containing her credit cards was stolen. She was notified by one of her card companies that a large purchase was made on August 23, 2021. The purchase was made for two iPhones in the amount of $1567.39. In addition, there were several purchases made to a second credit card totaling approximately $1900.00.

September 9, 2021 (Valley Road): The manager at CVS reported that she observed an individual place several bars and bottles of Dove soap in their pants and exit the store. He was described as a Hispanic male, approximately 6 feet tall, slim build, wearing a black sweatshirt, black sweatpants with gray and neon green sneakers.

September 11, 2021 (Inwood Avenue): A 2019 BMW X5 was stolen between 10:00 PM September 10, 2021 and 9:00 AM September 11, 2021. It was last observed parked on the street in front of the home.

September 13, 2021 (Bloomfield Avenue): A juvenile victim reported that he was sitting on his bicycle on Bloomfield Avenue when he was struck in the throat by an unknown person who took his bicycle and fled east on Bloomfield Avenue. The suspect was described as a black male, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. The bicycle was located by patrol at the Exxon Gas Station.

Suspicious Person

September 9, 2021 (Ward Place): The resident reported that she observed an unknown person on her home surveillance system walking on her property. He was described as a black male, wearing dark colored clothing and dark colored shoes.

Lewdness

September 12, 2021 (Llewellyn Road): The Montclair Police Department received two additional reports of a male committing a lewd act in the area of Carey’s Woods. The first caller, who was anonymous, reported observing a male masturbating in the woods on September 12, 2021. No further description was provided. Patrol canvassed the woods and the surrounding area but were unable to locate anybody. On September 13, 2021, the complainant contacted the police to report she observed a male in the wooded area masturbating. When the suspect saw her look at him, he hid behind a tree and she lost sight of him. The resident returned home and contacted the police. He was described as a male, unknown race, approximately 30-35 years old, 5’11” tall, wearing a royal blue short sleeve crew T-shirt and blue jeans. Vandalism

September 10, 2021 (Montague Place): The resident reported that an unknown person entered his property and damaged the charging cord to his 2020 Tesla. The cord had been cut in two different areas. The cord was valued at approximately $400.00

Arrest

September 11, 2021 (Park Street): Officers responded to Just Jakes Bar on a report of a disturbance. An employee of the establishment reported that a patron entered the bar and refused to pay the required cover charge. When he was escorted out of the bar a scuffle ensued where the suspect allegedly asked the employee, “Do you want to get stabbed?” Mr. Ashaad Bradshaw (22 years old, West Orange, NJ) was charged with terroristic threats and weapons possession after police found a knife in his pocket.

September 14, 2021 – September 21, 2021

Theft

September 17, 2021 (Woodland Avenue): The resident reported that he parked his vehicle in front of his residence at 7:15 PM Friday evening. When he returned approximately fifteen minutes later, he discovered his door was ajar and the interior was rummaged through. Missing at this time were an undetermined amount of MetLife parking passes.

September 18, 2021 (Clinton Avenue): The resident reported that she is in the process of moving and as a result has had numerous people in her home over the course of the last few days. She discovered that a large amount of jewelry is missing from her home. She described the jewelry as a Bvlgari BZero pink rose gold ring, valued at $1,300, a Van Cleef and Arpels Perlee yellow gold/diamond bracelet, valued at $60,000, and a Cartier Trinity diamond white, yellow, and rose gold ring, valued at $30,000.

September 19, 2021 (Bloomfield Avenue): The complainant reported that he locked his bicycle to a light post on Bloomfield Avenue at 2:00 PM. When he returned to it at 3:30 PM he discovered the bicycle and lock were missing. The bike was described as a grey Cannondale CAADX men’s road bike valued at $1500.00.

September 20, 2021 (Maple Avenue): The complainant reported that her daughter’s bicycle was stolen from the bike rack in front of Glenfield Middle School. It was described as a “Brave Lynx” brand 26” black mountain style bike with blue lettering on it. The word “Revered” was on the front neck of the bike.  It was valued at $415.00.

Assault

September 17, 2021 (Bloomfield Avenue): Officers responded to the area of Bloomfield Avenue and Church Street on a report of an assault that occurred. The victim reported that he got into a dispute with an individual whom he is familiar with. The altercation escalated and the victim was struck in the face by the suspect with a closed fist. The suspect was no longer on scene.
The victim suffered a laceration to his forehead and was transported to Mountainside Hospital.

September 18, 2021 (Bloomfield Avenue): Officers responded to the Shell Gas Station on a report of a dispute between the gas station attendant and a juvenile male. The attendant reported that a juvenile male whom he has had issues with in the past refused to leave the inside of the store and an argument ensued. Prior to leaving, the juvenile struck the attendant in the arm with a gardening rake. He suffered an abrasion to his right elbow but refused medical attention.

Suspicious Vehicle

September 20, 2021 (Watchung Avenue): Officers responded to the area of Park Street and Watchung Avenue on a report of an erratic driver. Witnesses reported a blue BMW driving aggressively in the area. Officers located the vehicle parked in the parking lot of Montclair Motors with the driver asleep. When officers woke the driver up, he refused to exit the vehicle and instead reversed, striking a marked patrol unit as well as a second, parked and unoccupied vehicle. The BMW then struck a dumpster before fleeing east on Watchung Avenue at a high rate of speed. It was last seen being pursued by the New Jersey State Police on the Garden State Parkway South.

Arrest

September 17, 2021 (Bloomfield Avenue): Ms. Chelsea Lozano (25 years old, Montclair) was charged with Driving While Intoxicated following a motor vehicle accident.

September 21, 2021 – September 28, 2021

Theft

September 23, 2021 (Hillside Avenue): The resident reported that upon entering her vehicle she discovered it had been entered and rummaged through. A wallet and a canvas bag valued at
$275 were reported missing.

September 23, 2021 (Plymouth Street): The resident reported that he received an alert from his bank advising him that his debit card was being used at a Boost Mobile store and a Dunkin Donuts in Orange, NJ. He then went to his parked vehicle outside and discovered that the car had been entered and his wallet was missing.

September 27, 2021 (Valley Road): The complainant reported that his vehicle was entered while he was shopping at Acme supermarket. When he returned to his vehicle, he discovered the following items missing: One pair of black and brown Tom Ford Sunglasses valued at $200, one Amazon package containing a yellow commercial power strip/extension cord valued at $50, one commercial blender lid valued at $100 and $100 in cash.

September 27, 2021 (Bloomfield Avenue): The resident reported that a package that had been delivered to her residence was stolen from her porch. It reportedly contained a dress.

Burglary

September 25, 2021 (Park Street): The complainant reported that two bicycles were stolen from the common basement area of his apartment building. The bikes were described as a red Huffy valued at $180.00 and blue and green accents road bike valued at $300.00

Shots Fired

September 27, 2021 (Bloomfield Avenue): At 12:04 AM Officers were dispatched to 428 Bloomfield Avenue on a report of shots fired. Preliminary investigation reveals that a verbal altercation occurred inside of Cuban Pete’s which ultimately made its way outside and became physical. Four males were reportedly involved in the physical dispute. At one point during the fight, one male brandished a handgun and fired three rounds. Nobody was hit by the gunfire and there were no injuries reported. Three Ruger 9mm shell casings were recovered from the scene. The shooter was described as a black male, approximately 5’09” tall, with a thin build. He was last seen fleeing on a motorcycle eastbound on Bloomfield Avenue. Arrest

September 24, 2021 (Bloomfield Avenue): Susan Lima (53 years old, Morris Plains, NJ) was charged with Driving While Intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop.
