August 3, 2021 – August 10, 2021

Theft

August 3, 2021 (Lackawanna Plaza): The victim reported that his 2021 Honda Civic was stolen from in front of Popeye’s. He reported the vehicle was left running as he ran inside to retrieve a Door Dash order.

August 5, 2021 (Montclair Avenue): The resident reported that his 2020 Audi A7 was stolen from the driveway during the overnight hours.

August 7, 2021 (Overlook Road): The complainant stated that his 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee was stolen from his driveway overnight. He believes he may have mistakenly left a spare set of keys inside the vehicle.

August 7, 2021 (Midland Avenue): The resident reported an unknown person stole his Schwinn Mountain Bike from his front porch. The bike was locked to a railing at the time. Surveillance footage showed a tall black male with a burgundy shirt, black short pants with white stripe on the side and orange sneakers, walk up to the front door of the residence and ring the doorbell. The suspect immediately ran down and stole the bicycle. It was valued at approximately $250.00.

August 8, 2021 (Porter Place): The victim reported that a 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander was stolen from his driveway overnight.  He believes he mistakenly left they keys inside of the car.

August 8, 2021 (Orange Road): The resident reported that his Cannondale CAAD 10 bicycle was stolen from his rear porch. The bicycle was valued at $750.00.

August 9, 2021 (Valley Road): The victim reported that she parked her vehicle in the Upper Montclair Parking Plaza and had $10,000 in a black case which she was intending to deposit at Chase Bank. When she arrived at the bank, she realized she did not have the case with her. She returned to her vehicle and discovered the case was on the ground and the money was missing.

August 9, 2021 (Bellevue Avenue): The victim reported that his white “Super 73” electric bike with a black seat and with fat tires was stolen from outside of a business. The bicycle is valued at $1800.00.

Suspicious Incident

August 3, 2021 (Inwood Avenue): The resident reported that his juvenile daughter and her friend observed an unknown male peering through one of the first-floor windows of the home. She reported that the male looked “distressed” while looking in. She stated that after looking into the window the male walked over to the side door and yelled "Help! Let me in!" before running off. The male was described as a short middle-aged white male, slim build, with long light- colored hair and a yellow shirt.

Arrests

August 3, 2021 (Orange Road): Evan Taylor (41 years old, Glen Ridge, NJ) was charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle accident.

August 5, 2021 (Maple Avenue): Samir Bryant (27 years old, Montclair, NJ) was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Bloomfield.

August 7, 2021 (Bloomfield Avenue): Jabreel Givens (31 years old, Montclair, NJ) was arrested on an open warrant out of Burlington County. He was additionally charged with Resisting Arrest.

August 7, 2021 (Bloomfield Avenue): Nicole Mollette (56 years old, Montclair, NJ) was charged with Obstruction of Justice.

August 24 – August 31, 2021

Theft

August 24, 2021 (Claremont Avenue): The complainant reported she left her 2013 Infiniti G37 running on Claremont Avenue while she was visiting a friend for a few moments. When she returned the vehicle was gone. A purse valued at $850.00 containing various credit cards was inside of the vehicle at the time of the theft. The vehicle was recovered, parked and unoccupied, on August 25, 2021 in Irvington, NJ.

August 25, 2021 (Glenridge Avenue): The resident reported that she was unloading items from her vehicle and left an autographed photographed poster of Bruce Springsteen and Steven Van Zandt in the front foyer of her apartment. When she returned the poster was gone. It was valued at $270.00.

August 25, 2021 (Claremont Avenue): Several packages were stolen from the front foyer area of a Claremont Avenue apartment complex. Approximately $500.00 in clothing were the reported proceeds.

August 25, 2021 (Claremont Avenue): The complainant reported that her bicycle was stolen while she was shopping inside CVS Pharmacy. The bicycle was described as a 24 inch “Highland” mountain bike with green and neon stripes and lettering, as well as a pink lock around the handlebars. It was reportedly valued at $350.00.

August 27, 2021 (Grove Street): The complainant reported that his bicycle was stolen from the St Sabastian Festival between 8:30 PM and 10:00 PM. The bicycle was left underneath a trailer at the event. It was described as a blue and black “Nishiki” mountain bike purchased for $300.00.

August 27, 2021 (Bloomfield Avenue): The complainant reported that her parked vehicle was entered during the overnight hours. A wallet containing cash and credit cards was stolen. She was alerted by her bank that the cards were used at the Exxon, QuickCheck, and 7-11.

August 27, 2021 (Claremont Avenue): A CVS employee reported that an individual entered the store and stole $167.17 worth of condoms. The suspect was described as a black male with one eye, wearing rose gold sweatpants, and carrying a black and purple backpack.

August 28, 2021 (Union Street): The victim reported that an unknown person(s) removed the catalytic converter off of his 2005 Honda CRV. The incident reportedly occurred during the early morning hours of August 19, 2021.

August 29, 2021 (North Fullerton Avenue): The complainant reported that while walking north on North Fullerton Avenue she observed a grey Chrysler Mini Van parked in the middle of the road. A passenger exited the van and approached her neighbors Range Rover, stealing an unknown item. When she yelled to the individual, he returned to the minivan and fled south on North Fullerton Avenue with the door still open. This same vehicle was involved in a theft from a motor vehicle on Gordonhurst Avenue moments later. The suspect vehicle was found to be a stolen vehicle from Gloucester City, NJ. A description of the vehicle was broadcast. It was last seen being pursued by Verona Police into West Orange.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle

August 25, 2021 (Hilltop Place): A 2015 Lexus ES stolen out of Orange, NJ was recovered parked and unoccupied on Hilltop Place.

Shots Fired

August 28, 2021 (New Street): At 3:23 PM, Montclair Police responded to the area of Washington Street and New Street on a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located 6 spent shell casings in the intersection. Preliminary investigation indicated a black vehicle, possibly a Honda Civic, occupied by two black males was shooting at a dark colored vehicle, possibly a Chevy Malibu, also occupied by two black males. The Civic was last seen fleeing west on Fulton Street towards Elm Street. The Malibu was last seen travelling south on Maple Avenue. All area hospitals were checked for victims of gunshot wounds with negative results. At this time, it is unknown if anyone in the Malibu was struck by gun fire. Arrests

August 26, 2021 (Orange Road): Mr. Diego Ferney-Rojas (25 years old, Clifton, NJ) was charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop.

August 28, 2021 (Grove Street): Mr. Brandon Perez (29 years old, Clifton, NJ) was charged with Driving While Intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop.
