Thefts

August 5, 2020 (Elmwood Avenue): The complainant reports that her motor vehicle was stolen from the front of her residence.

August 6, 2020 (Tichenor Place): The complainant reports that one of the license plates to her vehicle was stolen.

August 7, 2020 (Montague Place): The caller reports that her bicycle was stolen from the side of her residence.

August 9, 2020 (Claremont Avenue): A CVS employee reports that, at approximately 1020 AM, a suspect exited the store without paying for merchandise. The suspect is described as a black male, tall, thin build, 35-50 years old, last seen wearing a blue surgical mask, blue t-shirt, blue jeans, white socks, and sandals. He was last seen on a bicycle, travelling south on Pine Street.

August 9, 2020 (Elm Street): The caller reports that a package containing approximately $60 in merchandise was stolen from his property. Surveillance footage indicates that the theft occurred at approximately 1:05 PM on 8/7/20 and the suspect is described as a black male, tall, thin build, possibly in his 30s. He was last seen wearing a white, short sleeved shirt, gray shorts with white trim at the bottom, white socks, and black flip flops. He was seen with a light blue colored bicycle.

August 9, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): The complainant reports that a tire was stolen from his property.

August 10, 2020 (Mission Street): The complainant reports that her son’s bicycle was stolen from her porch the previous day at approximately 10:00 AM. The suspect is described as a black male last seen wearing a blue t-shirt with unidentified white-colored lettering across the front and blue jeans.

Burglary

August 6, 2020 (Gates Avenue): At approximately 9:15 PM, police responded on a report of a burglary to a motor vehicle in progress. The caller reports observing a subject entering a motor vehicle before pulling on the door handles to other motor vehicles. The suspect was last seen walking towards the area of Cross Street. Police were unable to locate the suspect, who was described as a male, possibly Hispanic, medium build, 5’10”-5’11”, approximately 170-180 lbs., last seen wearing a white baseball cap, a black short sleeved shirt, cargo shorts, sneakers, and a navy blue draw string backpack.

Vandalism

August 6, 2020 (South Mountain Avenue): The complainant reports finding two dents on her motor vehicle, stating that the damage appeared to have been done by fists.

August 8, 2020 (Chestnut Street): Police received an anonymous complaint of vandalism. It was discovered that “ACAB” had been spray painted in red twice on the Forest Street side of the train trestle.

Miscellaneous

August 7, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): at approximately 6:56 PM, police responded to Cuban Pete’s Restaurant with a representative of the Montclair Health Department after complaints were received that the restaurant was violating an executive order concerning dining. Upon arrival, it was observed that numerous outdoor dining tables were occupied by patrons, but were positioned in a manner that did not allow for adequate distancing between patrons. Upon entering the establishment, two dining areas were observed. The first area had three tables of diners, while the second area had two more tables of patrons. The establishment’s owner, Dominick Restaino, reportedly stated that all the patrons inside the dining areas took it upon themselves to seat themselves when the weather changed to rain. Restaino was charged with violating Executive Order # 150. No further information is available at this time.

Arrests

August 5, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): Marcus Almeida,35, of Jersey City, was charged with driving while intoxicated.

August 9, 2020 (Montclair Avenue): Isaiah Everett, 21, of Montclair, was charged with two counts of burglary after police responded to a call of a male attempting to entering vehicles parked in driveways along Montclair Avenue.

Thefts

August 12, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): An employee of the Exxon reports that a male left the store without paying for five packs of cigarettes at approximately 12:45 AM. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately twenty years old, thin build, 5’6”, last seen wearing a black skull cap, black face mask, white T-shirt, and gray gym shorts. The suspect fled east on Bloomfield Avenue towards Elm Street.

August 12, 2020 (Miller Street): The complainant reports that his wallet was stolen from his motor vehicle. It is believed that the vehicle was left unlocked prior to the theft.

August 12, 2020 (Southern Terrace): The complainant reports that a bicycle was stolen from her garage.

August 13, 2020 (Wheeler Street): The caller reports that a portable basketball hoop had been stolen from the front of her property.

August 13, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): The complainant reports that a package containing approximately $30 in merchandise was stolen.

August 14, 2020 (Brooklawn Road): The complainant reports that his wallet and sunglasses were stolen from his motor vehicle. It is believed that the vehicle was left unlocked prior to the theft.

August 16, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): An employee of 7-11 reports that three males left the store without paying for approximately $10 in merchandise.

August 16, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): An employee of the Cali Shop reported that his wallet was stolen from a counter.

Vandalism

August 11, 2020 (Lincoln Street): The complainant reports that an unidentified suspect threw a rock and broke a window to his residence. The suspect is described only as a juvenile.

August 12, 2020 (Chestnut Street): While on patrol, police located graffiti on the NJ Transit bridge, consisting of “ACAB” written in red spray paint.

Arrests

August 16, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): Judith Johnson, 46, of Elizabeth, was charged with driving while intoxicated.

August 16, 2020 (Valley Road): Shawn Allen, 41, of Newark was charged with shoplifting approximately $250 in merchandise.

Thefts

August 20, 2020 (Upper Mountain Avenue): The complainant reports that a package containing approximately $160 in merchandise was stolen from her porch.

August 21, 2020 (Valley Road): The complainant reports that a package containing approximately $165 in merchandise was stolen.

August 22, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): The complainant reports that a carrying case was stolen from her vehicle.

August 24, 2020 (Claremont Avenue): Tequaryn Warren, 47, of Montclair, was charged with shoplifting after it was determined that he had concealed over $130 worth of merchandise in CVS with the intent to deprive the store of this merchandise.

August 24, 2020 (Hartley Street): The complainant reports that a leaf blower, valued at $600, was stolen from a truck.

August 24, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): The complainant reports that a rowing machine was stolen near the elevators to the parking deck, where it had been momentarily left unattended.

Burglary

August 23, 2020 (South Fullerton Avenue): The complainant reports that an unidentified male entered vehicle, though nothing was reported missing from the vehicle. Footage indicates that the suspect is a black male wearing a hospital mask, a red hat, a gray, sleeveless hooded jacket, black pants, and gray and white sneakers.

Vandalism

August 19, 2020 (Erie Street): Police located “MPD=Racist” and “ACAB” spray painted on a billboard.

August 19, 2020 (South Fullerton Avenue): The complainant reports that windows to two vans were broken.

August 20, 2020 (South Park Street): The complainant reports that there were deep scratches to a motor vehicle.

August 20, 2020 (Lackawanna Plaza): The complainant reports that the driver’s side rear view mirror to his vehicle was partially removed. A possible suspect is described as a tall male, last seen wearing a t-shirt and sweatpants.

Robbery

August 24, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): The victim states that, at approximately 1:15 AM, he was approached by two males, demanding that the victim, a 33-year-old Montclair male, give them money. One of the suspects made a gesture implying that he had a gun. The victim was able to make enough noise to cause another man to come to his aid, causing the suspects to flee. The suspects were last seen fleeing south on Mission Street. The first suspect is described as a black male, 16-17 years old, 5’10”, slim build, last seen wearing a black t-shirt, black pants, and a black bandana around his head. The second suspect is described as a black male, 16-17 years old, 5’8”, slim build, last seen wearing a black t-shirt and black pants.

August 24, 2020 (New Street): The victim states that at approximately 4:15 AM five males ran up behind him and grabbed his wallet, which contained $31. The suspects are described only as black males last seen wearing dark sweaters or sweatshirts.

August 24, 2020 (Maple Avenue): The complainant reports that at approximately 5:25 PM, he was approached by three males, with one asking if he had a few dollars to spare. The victim pulled cash out of his pocket to look for small bills when one of the males grabbed the cash, which consisted of $300, out of his hand. The males then fled south on Maple Avenue.

Miscellaneous

August 23, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): At approximately 8:00 PM, police responded to Cuban Pete’s on a noise complaint. Upon arrival, police observed at least three tables occupied by a total of at least fifteen individuals dining indoors. The owner, Dominick Restaino, was charged with violating the executive order prohibiting indoor dining.

Arrests

August 24, 2020 (Cloverhill Place): Tequaryn Warren, 47, of Montclair, was charged with theft of moveable property after he was identified as a suspect in a bicycle theft from a residence on Cloverhill Place.
