Thefts

May 26, 2020 (134 Buckingham Road): The complainant reports that his juvenile daughter’s bicycle was stolen.

May 26, 2020 (Pine Street): The complainant reported that an unlocked bicycle was stolen from his rear yard.

May 30, 2020 (Valley Road): The complainant reports that her 2015 Mercedes Benz ML 256 wagon was stolen.

May 30, 2020 (Park Street): The complainant reports that his 2011 Mercedes Benz C30 was stolen.

May 31, 2020 (Valley Road): An employee at CVS reports that a person left the store at approximately noon without paying for approximately $460 in merchandise. The suspect is described as a black male wearing a face covering, a dark-colored t-shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers, and carrying a red bag.

June 1, 2020 (Harrison Avenue): The complainant reports that his 2018 Mazda CRX was stolen. The keys may have been left in the vehicle prior to the theft.

June 1, 2020 (Cross Street0: The complainant reports that his 2007 Honda CR-V was stolen. The keys were left in the unlocked vehicle prior to the theft.

Suspicious Person

May 26, 2020 (Claremont Avenue): The complainant reports observing a male walking up to a residence and pulling on the handle to the front door at approximately 2:10 AM. Upon discovering that the door was locked, the male left the area and was last seen walking in the area of Roswell Terrace and Walnut Crescent. The male is described as a black male, 5’5”-5’9”, walking with a noticeable limp and last seen wearing a white surgical mask, black jacket, camouflage pants, and carrying a black backpack.May 27, 2020 (Forest Street): The complainant reports that a male was observed in his yard at approximately 2:15 PM, possibly attempting to steal a bicycle. The caller believes that the suspect chose not to steal the bicycle once he discovered that it had a flat tire. The suspect is described only as having a thin build, last seen wearing black pants, a green shirt, a yellow bandana, black and white sneakers, and a white face mask.

May 30, 2020 (South Mountain Avenue): at approximately 2:30 PM, two 10 year old juveniles and one 7 year old juvenile were walking south on South Mountain Avenue near Union Street when they were approached by a female in a gray/silver sedan, asking them where they were going, further stating that she was a mother who wanted to keep them safe. She asked the juveniles if they wanted to get in the car, but they declined. The juveniles went to one of their residences, with the female following, telling them to have their mother come outside and wave at her so that the driver knew that they were safe. One of the juveniles told his mother, who went outside to discover that the car was gone. The female is described as being of possibly Hispanic or Middle Eastern descent, with an accent, possibly in her late 40s, with black hair.

Burglary

May 30, 2020 (Park Street): The caller reports that two unlocked vehicles at her residence were entered, with the contents of each vehicle’s glove box left on the passenger’s seats. Nothing was reported as missing from the vehicles.

Vandalism

May 26, 2020 (Montague Place): The complainant reports that his motorcycle was keyed.

May 28, 2020 (Orange Road): The complainant reports that three benches near Hillside School’s playground were damaged.

Arrests

May 28, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): Rosamond Bender, 28, of Newark, was charged with shoplifting after she was found to have left CVS with over $120 in unpaid merchandise.

Thefts

June 3, 2020 (Valley Road): An employee at CVS reported that two juveniles left the store without paying for an undetermined amount of merchandise at approximately 1:45 PM. The first juvenile is described as a black female, 15-16 years old, dark hair, last seen wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt, black Nike shorts. The second juvenile is described as a black female, 15-16 years old, light-colored hair in a bun, last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, and orange leggings.

June 4, 2020 (Norman Road): The complainant reports that her motor vehicle was stolen from her driveway. The keys may have been left in the unlocked vehicle prior to the theft.

June 6, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): An employee reports that an individual left the store without paying for approximately $313 in merchandise at approximately 4:15 PM. The suspect is described as a black male, 6’0”, last seen wearing a striped knit cap, a green and white striped shirt, and gray shorts and carrying a red bag and a blue bag.

Vandalism

June 4, 2020 (Porter Park): The complainant reports finding “STRAIGHT X EDGE” written in black marker on a traffic pole. It is believed that the writing refers to a subculture of punk rock

June 4, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): Police reported finding the letters “ACAB” spray painted on a garage.

Arrests

June 4, 2020 (South Park Street): John Concepcion, 61, of Harrison, was charged with disorderly conduct after he was observed yelling at a pedestrian and asking for money.

June 9, 2020 (North Mountain Avenue): The complainant reports his vehicle was stolen from his driveway.

June 11, 2020 (Willowdale Avenue): The caller reports that a book bag was stolen from inside her vehicle.

June 11, 2020 (Maple Avenue): The complainant reports that $10 was stolen from inside his vehicle.

June 14, 2020 (Irving Street): The complainant reports that his wallet was stolen from inside his unlocked motor vehicle.

Vandalism

June 9, 2020 (Crescent Deck): The complainant reports finding vandalism in the deck, mostly written in red marker. Said vandalism consisted of “Black Lives Matter, “Blue Lives Murder,””BLM,””Cops R Murderers,” “Solidarity Forever,” and “Destroy Capitalism.” The vandalism is believed to have been committed on 6/4/2020 at approximately 6:45 PM. A possible suspect is described as a dark-skinned male last seen wearing light gray sweatpants, a dark gray hooded sweatshirt, a lime green undershirt, black and white sneakers, and carrying a green and gray book bag.

June 10, 2020 (Walnut Street): The victim reports that the tires to her vehicle were slashed.

June 12, 2020 (Central Avenue/Brunswick Road): Police responded on a report of vandalized stop signs. Three signs had the word “Fascism” written in spray paint or ink.

June 14, 2020 (Midland Avenue/Walnut Street): Police responded on a report of vandalized stop signs. Two signs had the word “Fascism” written in spray paint, while “Fuck Pigs!” was spray painted in spray pint on a stop line.

Luring

June 11, 2020 (Oakcroft Avenue): A 12 year old female reports that she was skateboarding at approximately 2:15 PM when she was approached by a male who had emerged from behind bushes that run alongside the railroad tracks. The male said nothing, but motioned for her to come closer to him. The juvenile fled home and notified an adult. The suspect is described as a white male in his early 60s, walks with a slight hunch, last seen wearing a dark-gray, long sleeved flannel shirt, light-gray baggy pants, and a black head and face covering.

June 19, 2020 (Essex Avenue): The caller reports that two vehicles had been rummaged through, with a pair of sunglasses, valued at $100, reported as being stolen.

June 19, 2020 (Yale Terrace): The complainant reports that two bottles of wine were stolen from her vehicle.

June 19, 2020 (Yale Terrace): The complainant reports that a soccer bag containing cleats was stolen from her vehicle stolen from the property.

Vandalism

June 17, 2020 (Greenwood Avenue): The complainant reports finding the word “Black” written in white chalk on a door frame.

June 17, 2020 (Garfield Park): The caller reports finding “FTP,” “SKD,” and “ACAB” written in pink paint on a recycling bin.

June 19, 2020 (Orange Road): The caller reports that she was away from her residence for an extended period of time. Upon returning, she discovered that her motor vehicle had been scratched.

June 19, 2020 (Orange Road): The complainant reports that the rear windshield to her motor vehicle was smashed.

Bias

June 19, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): The complainant reports finding a piece of paper on the front door of her business, stating “This is what Nazi Germany looks like in 2020 Amerika. Are you proud?” It is unknown if the note intended to target the victim due to her faith or if it was a general political statement regarding unrest in society.

June 24, 2020 (Hillside School): The caller reports that his bicycle was stolen from the area near the entrance of the school.

June 24, 2020 (Church Street): The complainant reports that three dollars in cash and multiple personal documents were stolen from a backpack that he left momentarily unattended.

June 24, 2020 (Essex Avenue): The complainant reports that her son’s bicycle was stolen from the area of the soccer field.

June 25, 2020 (Parkway): The complainant reports that a box containing $1,280 worth of clothing was stolen from the interior of her vehicle.

June 25, 2020 (Lincoln Street): The complainant reports that two air conditioning units were stolen from the side of his residence.

Bias

June 27, 2020 (Macopin Road): The caller reports finding “Visit JewWatch.com” written in chalk in the road. It is believed that this is an anti-Semitic website that promotes Holocaust denial.

Suspicious Incident

June 24, 2020 (Bell Street): Police responded on a report of a thin, white male, last seen wearing black jeans, a black t-shirt, and a black hat checking door handles to motor vehicles. There was no evidence of entry being gained to any motor vehicles in the area. The suspect was not located.

Arrests

June 23, 2020 (Valley Road): Jihadah Tucker, 57, was taken into custody after police were informed that he had a warrant issued by Livingston.

Addendum

On June 30, 2020 at approx. 12:23 pm, Montclair PD responded to a call of a dispute between neighbors on Marion Rd in Montclair.  The dispute was related to work being done on the property of one of the residents. There were no complaints signed by either party involved, however the incident is under investigation at this time.
