BLOTTER 3-3-20

Thefts

February 25, 2020 (Hartley Street): The complainant reports that a dumpster, valued at $4,000 was stolen from a lot.

February 26, 2020 (Gates Avenue); The complainant states that his wallet was stolen from his vehicle.

February 26, 2020 (South Park Street): The complainant reports that her wallet was stolen when she momentarily left her purse unattended at Starbucks.

March 1, 2020 (North Willow Street): The complainant reports that approximately $280 worth of DJ equipment was stolen from her motor vehicle.

Burglary

February 26, 2020 (Pierson Place): The complainant reports that two laptop computers and a television were stolen from his residence. It appears that entry was gained through an unlocked patio door.

March 2, 2020 (Orange Road): Police received a report that a window to the building had been shattered, with a rock found on the floor of the building.

Robbery

February 24, 2020 (Nishuane Park): The complainant reports that he arranged through a mutual acquaintance to meet in Nishuane Park at 11:00 PM with a male to purchase a pair of sneakers. Once there, the suspect produced a sneaker box containing rocks rather than the sneakers. The suspect then brandished a silver revolver and demanded the $350 that was the agreed asking price for the sneakers. The complainant surrendered the money and the suspect fled towards the direction of Harrison Avenue and Oak Street. The suspect, known only to the complainant as “J”, is described as a black male, slim build, 5’8”-5’9”, last seen wearing a dark colored short sleeved shirt and glasses. No injuries were reported.

March 2, 2020 (Elmwood Avenue); The victim   states that he was on Elmwood Avenue at approximately 9:15 PM when he was approached by a group of about ten males wearing dark, hooded clothing. The victim states that the group began to mock his appearance, with one, described as a black male, approximately 19 years old, with short, curly black hair and wearing a red, hooded sweatshirt, saying, “I’m gonna see you later.” After a brief exchange, the victim reports that he was assaulted by the group. The victim that his cell phone was taken during the incident. The victim suffered abrasions, bruising, and swelling to his face and forehead.

Suspicious Incident

February 28, 2020: The complainant reports that on two occasions in the last several weeks, he has been verbally harassed. On one occasion in early

February, he was walking in the area of Glenridge Avenue when the occupants of a four-door silver Buick yelled slurs regarding the complainant’s sexuality. The occupants are described only as three white males, possibly in their teens. The complainant also states that on February 18th, he was on Bloomfield Avenue when three black males, possibly in their mid-twenties, yelled similar slurs.

Bias

March 2, 2020 (Chestnut Street): An employee at the Montclair High School reported discovering two swastikas and an anti-Semitic phrase carved into a chair in the school.

Fraud

March 1, 2020 (Valley Road): An employee of King’s Supermarket reported that at approximately 2:30 PM, two females passed two counterfeit $100 bills during a purchase. The first suspect is described as a black female, medium build, with dreadlocks in her early twenties, and last seen wearing a blue shirt and a green jacket. The second female is described as a black female, medium build, with dreadlocks in her late teens or early twenties, last seen wearing a puffy red jacket with a hood.

Arrests

February 25, 2020 (Mission Street): Quadee Lapread, 39, of Newark, was arrested after he was found to be in possession of marijuana.

February 26, 2020 (Bay Street Train Station): Brandon Bickaroo, 24, of East Orange, was arrested after it was discovered that he had a warrant issued by Bloomfield.

February 26, 2020 (Nishuane Road): Nicholas Bennett, 26, of West Orange, was arrested after it was discovered that he had warrants issued by East Orange and Newark.

February 28, 2020 (Valley Road): James Schoneboom, 18, of Montclair, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of prescription legend drugs following a motor vehicle stop. During the same incident, Yogesh Pillia, 19, of Montclair, was charged with possession of marijuana.

February 29, 2020 (Park Street): Anthony Orantes, 46, of Montclair, was charged with driving while intoxicated.

March 1, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): Angel Garcia-Sandoval, 30, of Newark, was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Thefts

March 3, 2020 (Chestnut Street): A student reports that an iPhone and approximately $6 was stolen from an unlocked locker.

March 7, 2020 (Mission Street): The complainant reports that his wallet was stolen from his motor vehicle, which may have been left unlocked prior to the theft.

March 8, 2020 (Warren Place): The complainant reports that a camera and a pair of sunglasses were stolen from his motor vehicle.

March 8, 2020 (Glenridge Avenue): The complainant reports that a USB cord, valued at $35, had been stolen from her vehicle, which had been left unlocked prior to the theft.

March 8, 2020 (Willowdale Avenue): The complainant reports that seven dollars in cash had been stolen from his vehicle, which may have been left unlocked prior to the theft.

March 8, 2020 (Willowdale Avenue): The complainant reports that her vehicle, which may have been left unlocked prior to this incident, was rummaged through, though no items were reported missing.

Burglary

March 5, 2020 (Valley Road): An employee of Chelsea Square reported that someone tried to pry open the rear door to the establishment sometime between 5:00 PM on March 4th and 10:05 AM on March 5th.

Arrests

March 4, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): Damon Abnathya, 41, of Montclair, was charged with Bad Checks and Receiving Stolen Property after attempting to cash a fraudulent check at TD Bank.

March 4, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): Kerline Jean-Francios, 53, of Brookdale, was charged with shoplifting after she was found to have concealed over $360 in merchandise in her handbag.

March 5, 2020 (Pleasant Way): Dajuan Adams, 21, of West Orange, and Jeyson Claros-Lopez, 21, of Montclair, were charged with possession of marijuana following a motor vehicle stop.

March 6, 2020 (Watchung Avenue): Francis Barillas-Pineda, 40, of Newark, was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Thefts

March 19, 2020 (Greenwood Avenue): The complainant reports that a package delivered to her residence had been rummaged through, with $49 worth of merchandise reported as stolen.

Suspicious Incident

March 20, 2020 (Orange Road): The complainant reports observing three males entering a vehicle and rummaging through it. The owner of the vehicle stated that nothing was removed from the vehicle. Police were unable to locate the suspects.

March 25, 2020 (Cloverhill Place): Police responded shortly after 1:00 AM on a report of a suspicious male pulling door handles to motor vehicles in the area. The male, who fled prior to the arrival of the police, is described as a bald black male, approximately 30 years old, last seen wearing a black jacket and blue pants.

Vandalism

March 18, 2020 (Maple Avenue): An employee at Nori Sushi states that a male entered the establishment shortly before 5:30 PM, went into the restroom and began throwing the bathroom cleaning supplies against the wall. The male was asked to leave the establishment. While leaving, the male broke a stone decoration located outside the establishment. The suspect is described as a black male, 6’0”, last seen wearing a black jacket, black pants, a black hat, and a red hooded sweatshirt.

March 19, 2020 (Mission Street): The complainant reports that a brick was thrown through the windshield of his motor vehicle.

March 23, 2020 (Glenridge Ave): The complainant reports that someone had vandalized the storefront glass of Jerry’s Antiques and Estate Sales using a black marker.

March 24, 2020 (Undercliff Road): The complainant reports that someone had vandalized a retaining wall using white and yellow spray paint.

Arrests

March 20, 2020 (Valley Road): Horace McNeill, 49, of Plainfield, was charged with shoplifting from the CVS.

March 22, 2020 (Valley Road): Jose Perez-Delgado, 30, of Bloomfield, was charged with shoplifting from the CVS.

Thefts

March 25, 2020 (Mountain View Place): The complainant reports that three individuals attempted to steal a motor vehicle from the rear of a house, but mounted a curb and possibly got stuck. The individuals then fled and were not located.

March 26, 2020 (Montague Place): The complainant reports that a motor vehicle was stolen from the rear of his property.

Burglary

March 26, 2020 (Clinton Avenue): The complainant reports that the console to her vehicle was rummaged through, with its contents found scattered in the vehicle. Nothing was reported missing at the time of the report.

March 28, 2020 (Wheeler Street): The complainant reports that the console to his vehicle was rummaged through, with its contents found scattered in the vehicle. The complainant reported that an undetermined amount of change was stolen from the vehicle.

March 30, 2020 (Watchung Avenue): An employee of Montclair Motors reports that several vehicles were rummaged through. It was unknown at the time of the report if anything was missing.

Suspicious Incident

March 27, 2020 (Upper Mountain Avenue): The complainant reports finding a neo-Nazi sticker posted on the train schedule board at the Mountain Avenue Train Station. The sticker stated “NJEHA.com Take Back Your Country.”

Arrests

March 28, 2020 (Glenridge Avenue): Police responded to Montclair Auto Top and Seat Cover on a report of a male attempting to gain entry with a crow bar. Officers learned that the male had fled in his vehicle. Police stopped the vehicle and charged Bradly Smith, 57, of Livingston with criminal attempt.
