Blotter 2-4-20

Thefts

January 29, 2020 (Lexington Avenue): The complainant reports that a backpack and a textbook were stolen from his vehicle.

Burglary

February 2, 2020 (Claremont Avenue): The complainant reports that the door to a vacated apartment had been kicked in. Nothing was reported missing at the time of the report.

Vandalism

January 29, 2020 (Orange Road): The complainant reports that his vehicle was “keyed” and two tires to the vehicle were punctured.

January 30, 2020 (North Willow Avenue): The complainant reported that a window to her vehicle had been shattered, with a brick found on the floor under her driver’s seat.

January 30, 2020 (Valley Road): The complainant reports that her windshield was cracked by an unidentified object.

January 31, 2020 (Bellevue Avenue): The complainant reports that the interior of the Bellevue Theater was vandalized, with a fire extinguisher discharged, and damage to interior glass windows, ceiling tiles, light fixtures, and a theater seat.

February 3, 2020 (Forest Street): The caller reports that an unidentified person had apparently placed oatmeal and sugar in and around the gas tank to her motor vehicle.

Suspicious Incident

January 29, 2020 (Alexander Avenue): A witness states that he was in a house under construction when he observed a male peering into a window on the front porch. When the witness made eye contact with the male, the male ran and entered a white van that was parked nearby. The witness chased the male, but the van fled west on Alexander Avenue. The male is described only as being of Indian or Middle Eastern descent, with a distinctive long beard, last seen wearing a black jacket and dark-colored sweatshirt. January 31, 2020 (Tremont Place): The complainant reports that her vehicle was rummaged through, with nothing of value reported as being stolen from the vehicle.

January 31, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): The victim, a thirty-three year old Jersey City resident, reports that she was walking when a male said to her, “Go back to China,” made a slur regarding her heritage, and spat in her direction. The suspect is described as an older white male, balding with some gray hair, and last seen wearing a blue sweatshirt with a gray hood.

Assault

January 29, 2020 (Orange Road): The victim, a fifty year old California resident, reports that she was walking on Orange Road when she was approached by a male who wanted to talk to her. When she refused, the male pushed her to the ground, causing an abrasion to the victim’s knee. The suspect, described as a black male, 5’10”-5’11” tall, 220-230 lbs., with short, black hair, and last seen wearing a black jacket and black sweatpants, was last seen running on Warren Place. Robbery

February 1, 2020 (Midland Avenue): A pizza delivery driver states that he was making a delivery when he was approached by two black males in ski masks with slim builds and wearing black and dark clothing, with one brandishing a handgun. The victim reports that the order, his AirPod, and wallet containing $50 were stolen from him. He states that the pair fled south on Midland Avenue in a dark-colored sedan. Arrests

January 30, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): A sixteen year old East Orange resident was charged with receiving stolen property after he was found to be in possession of a bicycle reported stolen earlier in the month.

February 1, 2020 (Gates Avenue): John Concepcion, 61, of Harrison, was charged with Harassment by Communication, Harassment by Spitting, and Bias Intimidation after police responded to the area on a report of a male yelling racial slurs and spitting on a forty-seven year old African-American female Newark resident.

February 2, 2020 (Lloyd Road): Brendan O’Hare, 45, of Hackensack, was charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop.

February 3, 2020 (Elm Street): Carla Molinahoey, 41, of Springfield, was charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop.

Thefts

February 5, 2020 (Claremont Avenue): Police responded to the CVS on a report of two males placing body wash into their backpacks. The pair were last seen fleeing south on Pine Street. The first suspect is described as a Hispanic male, last seen wearing a dark-colored jacket and baseball cap, dark-colored sneakers, and carrying a backpack. The second suspect is described as a Hispanic male, last seen wearing a dark-colored jacket, gray hooded sweatshirt, dark sneakers and carrying a red backpack.

February 6, 2020 (Pleasant Way): The complainant reports that two tires were stolen from his vehicle.

February 6, 2020 (Pine Street): The complainant reports that a bicycle was stolen shortly before 9:15 AM, with the suspect described as a light-skinned black male in his mid-thirties with a moustache, medium height and build, last seen wearing dark jeans, a black jacket, and carrying a backpack. The bicycle is described as a black Mongoose with oversized tires.

Vandalism

February 8, 2020 (Greenwood Avenue): The complainant states that the front and rear windshields of her motor vehicle were smashed and there were multiple scratches and dents caused by a rock.

February 10, 2020 (Fairfield Parking Lot): Police discovered that multiple signs in the lot had been vandalized with spray paint.
Suspicious Incident

February 4, 2020 (Hawthorne Place): Police responded at approximately 2:26 PM on a report of a male attempting to gain access to a parked motor vehicle. The suspect is described as a black male, possibly in his late 20s, scruffy bears, with scars under his left eye, last seen wearing a black sweatshirt, black sweatpants, and white sneakers. He was last seen walking south on Orange Road towards Gates Avenue.

Arrests

February 6, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): Danny Trujillo, 40, of Montclair, was taken into custody after police discovered that he had a warrant issued by the Essex County Sheriff’s Office.

Thefts

February 16, 2020 (Linden Avenue): The complainant reports that over $2,200 of property, mostly photo equipment, was stolen from his vehicle. The vehicle may have been left unlocked prior to the theft.

February 16, 2020 (South Park Street): An employee at South Moon Under reported that two females left the store without paying for $48 in merchandise at approximately 1:10 PM. The first suspect is described as a white female, brown hair, late teens, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt with red lettering, gray jacket, and sneakers, last seen carrying a green Urban Outfitters bag. The second suspect is described as a white female, brown hair, late teens, last seen wearing a brown or tan jacket, black pants, white sneakers, and carrying a green Urban Outfitters bag.

February 17, 2020 (Roosevelt Place): The complainant reports that approximately $2 in change, a $100 gift card, and a parking permit were stolen from his vehicle.

Burglary

February 11, 2020 (Harrison Avenue): The complainant reports that her unlocked motor vehicle was entered, with her belongings found scattered around the interior of the vehicle. Nothing was reported as missing.

Suspicious Incident

February 18, 2020 (Walnut Street): Police responded to the area on a report of a suspicious male walking through backyards and attempting to gain entry to a motor vehicle at approximately 3:15 AM. The suspect is described as a black male, 50-60 years old, last seen wearing a black winter cap, a black leather jacket and blue jeans.

Arrests

February 14, 2020 (East Orange Police Department): Zyasia Young, 19, of Montclair, was taken into custody after it was determined that she had warrants issued by Montclair.

Thefts

February 19, 2020 (Grant Street): The complainant reports that a package delivered to his residence had been opened and a pair of sneakers that he had ordered had been stolen.

February 20, 2020 (Mission Street): The complainant reports that two doorbells to a Tmezon Wireless IP Video Intercom system had been stolen from her residence.

February 20, 2020 (North Fullerton Avenue): The complainant reports that his cell phone was stolen in Rand Park.

Burglary

February 21, 2020 (Edgemont Road): The complainant reports that approximately $20 in change was stolen from her vehicle, which may have been left unlocked prior to the theft.

Suspicious Incident

February 20, 2020 (Orange Road): Shortly after midnight, police responded to the South End Food Grill on a report of a “glass break” alarm. Upon arrival, police determined that the front glass on the entrance door had been smashed, but it did not appear that the suspect made entry to the establishment. Footage revealed that the suspect was approximately 5’8”-6’0”, slim build, last seen wearing light-colored sweat pants, a light-colored hooded shirt, and a light-colored jacket.

Vandalism

February 22, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue) An employee of Power House Tattoo reports that the front glass pane to the establishment was damaged, possibly by a block of wood.

Arrests

February 19, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): Larry Comasco, 36, of Bloomfield, was arrested after he was found to be in possession of five folds of heroin.

February 19, 2020 (Mission Street): Eduardo Rosales, 32, of Newark, was charged with driving while intoxicated.

February 21, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): Downiel Sanchez-Reyes, 22, was charged with possession of marijuana following a motor vehicle stop.

February 23, 2020 (Grove Street): Dylan Blackwell, 38, of Montclair was charged with driving while intoxicated. Blackwell resisted attempts to place him under arrest and, once in custody, spat in the face of an officer. He was additionally charged with Aggravated Assault, Bodily Fluids at a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting Arrest, and Obstruction.

February 24, 2020 (Harrison Avenue): Shayna Agosto-Deshields, 28, of West Orange, was charged with driving while intoxicated.
