Plant Based for the Planet
Eating a Plant-Based Diet Can Help the Environment!

Montclair Township has partnered with Planted Society to promote the importance of plant-based diets in helping reduce our community’s carbon footprint. By eating plant-based, we can reduce the demand for animal products which will in turn:
- Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions: Livestock farming is a significant source of methane and other greenhouse gases.
- Conserve Water: Plant-based foods generally require less water to produce compared to animal products.
- Preserve Land: Less land is needed for growing crops for direct human consumption than for feeding livestock.
- Reduce Deforestation: Less demand for pasture and feed crops can lead to reduced deforestation.
- Decrease Pollution: Livestock farming produces significant waste and runoff, polluting water bodies.
