What happens if it rains?

In the event of rain:

  • The parade will go on rain or shine.
  • The picnic will be cancelled (for cancellation information call 973-509-4914).
  • The Fireworks and Fireworks Express wil be postponed to Saturday, July 5, 2008 (for rain information call 973-509-4914).

Where is the best place to view the fireworks?

The fireworks can be viewed from the softball field located between Mountainside pool and the tennis courts on the east side of Upper Mountain Avenue or snow sledding hill on the west side. Both locations offer excellent views of the fireworks.

Are there restrooms at the fireworks site?

Yes, the pool and tennis court restroom facilities will be open and Port-A-Johns will be set up by the tennis courts.

Is special seating available for seniors and disabled persons?

Yes, seating for seniors and disabled persons will be available by the tennis courts..

Are there food vendors?

Delicious food will be made available by Applegate Farm Homemade Ice Cream and Church Street Kitchen.

Can I bring a cooler?

Yes, but be prepared to have it inspected. Please be aware that glass containers and alcohol are prohibited and will be confiscated by security.

Can I bring my pet?

No. There are no animals permitted at the site.

Can I bring a chair?

Yes, but keep it low in height. It must be collapsible (beach chair style).

Can I volunteer at the event?

Yes. Contact Montclair Recreation and Cultural Affairs Dept. at 973-509-4910 or send an e-mail with your name, address and phone number to esheehan@montclairnjusa.org.

Will any streets be closed for the fireworks display?

Please note that due to the 4th of July fireworks display, the following streets will be closed to through traffic (open to local traffic only) on July 4, 2008, between 6:00 – 11:00 p.m.

• Upper Mountain Avenue between Jerome Place and Normal Avenue

• Highland Avenue between Bradford and Normal Avenues

• All of Laurel Avenue

• Mt. Hebron Road between Carlisle Road and Highland Avenue.
